Sforzato is hoe ze in Lombardije de appassimento methode noemen, zoals Amarone gemaakt wordt. De geplukte druiven worden dus eerst een paar maanden op rieten matten gelegd om te drogen, voordat er wijn van wordt gemaakt. Daarna een spontane vergisting en 18 maanden in grote vaten gerijpt en nog eens 2 jaar op fles. Een krachtige wijn maar oh zo zacht. Echt geweldig. Heel gelimiteerd! 

Artisanal wines from the mountains in Northern Italy, high up in the Alps, you find the 6 hectares of vineyards of Barbacan in San Giacamo di Teglio, Valtellina. Terraces, wintery slopes full of snow in winter. It's almost an incredible job what they do here. And the wines? Extraordinary. They are all Nebbiolo, which is called Chiavennasca in this region.
