Der Bauer is one of Philip Lardot's top wines. The Riesling grapes come from the 50-75 year old plot with 'ungrafted vines!' St. Aldegunder Himmelreich, which is beautifully situated on the Palmberg where Ulli Stein owns his vineyards. And that is beautiful but also very very steep. The gray slate here shows that beautiful minerality, but because it is so unworkable, these sticks need extra attention and you can taste it. Powerhouse Riesling but still super elegant, very young so he can certainly go into the cellar or else in a carafe and just enjoy it very much.
